The aircraft industry is already taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint, but what could the future hold? In this project, APH partnered up with Adam Omar, a PhD student of Aircraft Design at Imperial College London, to present a vision of a cleaner, greener tomorrow for commercial flight.
This proposed hybrid-electric aircraft incorporates a number of breakthrough technologies to fulfil the role of a large-scale passenger jet, at a fraction of the carbon output.
Beverley Barden, Head of Marketing at APH says: "Hybrid-electric planes offer a promising way forward for cleaner flight, and it's an area of research the sector is already investing in. By creating these designs we wanted to spark a conversation, within the industry and beyond, about technologies that could help the transition from fossil fuel.
"These concepts might seem futuristic, but the technology is in development today – and it's exciting to imagine all the changes we'll see to commercial flight in the years ahead."
