Anyone who’s booked airport parking through APH is likely to have seen mention of the Park Mark Safer Parking Award – but just what is it and why is it so important to car owners?
Here we take a look at just why it’s such a useful tool for both you and your vehicle.
Launched as part of an initiative by the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Park Mark Safer Parking Award certifies the recipient site has reached a national standard for UK car parks that have low-crime measures in place to ensure the safety of both vehicles and owners.
Any car park hoping to receive the award will need to be visited by Police assessors who ensure the site is safe for both car and owner. For APH, this will include the likes of security lighting, perimeter fencing, entry and exit barriers, CCTV and 24-hour staff. In addition, car parks are regularly re-assessed and stripped of the award if they no longer comply. All APH-owned car parks hold the Park Mark Safer Parking Award
Yes! With many horror stories telling of drivers finding their vehicles parked unguarded on public streets, it’s extremely important to find meet & greet firms whose car parks hold a Park Mark Safer Parking Award. Check before you buy.
The award is managed by the British Parking Association, which is a not-for-profit organisation whose members include hundreds of legitimate parking professionals from airport parking firms, such as APH, to hospitals, railway stations and local authorities.
Don’t worry – it’s the individual car park that holds the award and not just the parent company. This helps to guarantee safe parking wherever you’re planning to park.
It’s simple. Just look for the logo, or head to the Park Mark Safer Parking Award website where individual websites can be confirmed as being genuine holders. You can search for Park Mark Safer Parking Award-holding car parks here.
